The United States Supreme Court’s Decision
in Louisville VS Callais.
This decision represents a direct
assault on the spirit and substance of the voting right of 1965 one of the most
significant civil rights achievements in American history. For now it may be a setback but it WILL NOT
be the Final Word. The arch of the moral universe will always bends towards Justice.
Let’s be clear this was not simply a
legal opinion; it was a calculated step backwards that threatens to unravel
decades of hard fault progress secured through the blood sacrifice and
unyielding courage of those who dared to demand full citizenship in this nation.
The Evangelical Church, or so the claim to be,
should be trembling right now. For any
church, preacher, Christian that is unmoved by inequity has already drifted
from the Christ it claims to represent. You do not no him “Jesus” if this
doesn’t grieve you to action you cannot preach a Savior who stood with the
marginal while remaining silent when systems disadvantaged them.
You can take your pen and pencils and redraw maps - You can redefine laws -
You can raise legal thresholds, but you cannot permanently suppress a people who
have already learned how to SURVIVE systems designed AGAINST them. This is NOT
THE END.
